Microlyte® resorbable matrix

Microlyte® is a one-of-a-kind synthetic resorbable wound matrix used in the management of acute and chronic wounds. It is made of a hydrophilic polymer - polyvinyl alcohol, and optimized to contain a low and safe level of evenly distributed metallic and ionic silver (≤ 25 micrograms of silver per sq. cm.) for rapid, effective, and sustained antimicrobial action on the matrix for up to 72 hours.2,3

The matrix absorbs wound fluid, rapidly conforms to the wound surface, and maintains a moist wound environment. The matrix contains antimicrobial silver that is effective against a wide range of common wound pathogens, including gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, fungus, and yeast, on the matrix. See a physician testimonial or view the Microlyte® Provider Education White Papers and Case Reports.

  • Non-toxic; effective in killing 99.99% of microbes on the matrix frequently associated with infections.2,3
  • Can be used at the onset of wound treatment or in surgery.
  • Non-pyrogenic; meets FDA and USP requirements for limit of endotoxin detected on a medical device for use in surgery.
  • Rapidly conforms to micro to the micro-texture of the wound bed. and can resorb in as little as one week.4
  • Cytophilic, biocompatible matrix helps maintain a moist wound-environment that allows for cellular growth and the granulation process.
  • Sterile and shelf stable at room temperature with a 4-year shelf life; available in multiple sizes (5x5cm, 10x10cm, 5x23cm, 15x15cm, 10x23cm).
  • 510(k) cleared: synthetic matrix indicated for acute (e.g., surgical, trauma, first- and second-degree burns) and chronic (DFU, VLU, PU) wounds.

Next Generation Synthetic Matrix with Antimicrobial Silver

Effective against microbes most frequently associated with wound infections, including antibiotic resistant VRE and MRSA. In vitro testing demonstrates that the antimicrobial silver in the matrix suppresses the growth of microorganisms on the matrix and is effective in preventing microbial colonization of the matrix.2,3†

Clinically Proven

Thirty-two patients with a total of 35 chronic, nonhealing wounds of varying types were treated with Microlyte® Matrix once every three days.  At 3 weeks, 72% of wounds had significantly improved healing with an average wound area reduction of 66%. By 12 weeks, 91% of wounds either healed completely or improved significantly with an average wound area reduction of 73%.  The application of Microlyte® Matrix was safe and well tolerated, and it facilitated improvements in healing of a majority of the complex chronic wounds studied.1-2, 4-6 Click Here to read the full article from the November issue of WOUNDS.
